Outdoor Learning
Reception/Year 1
The EYFS framework encourages development of personal skills, cooperation and turn taking, as well developing confidence and independence. Being outdoors enhances children’s learning experiences, combining play-based activities with structured learning.

| To explore new places, using a special map to orienteer around the site To explore the natural world around them. To use natural materials to create imaginative artwork. To experience new physical skills. | Introduction Quick chat about the site, what we are going to be doing, then tell the tale all seated in the garden area. Tree Identification Explore the site, following our map to find the biggest Oak tree. Along the way, learning the names of the trees, collecting leaves and sticks to make our own woodland wild art. Archery Using soft arrows, develop new skills in a safe environment, working on building strength and coordination while having fun trying to be like Robin Hood. Finishing game. Be like Robin Hood and his Merry men, playing hide and seek. |
We can develop a bespoke package for your visit on request. Altering activities, or introducing new ones.
If schools are travelling in mini-buses and so bring half a class at a time we can provide a fun, low ropes activity for the waiting groups.
Cost for a class visit is £6 per pupil, staff are free of charge.
Session is 10-12, with facilities for groups to stay and have own packed lunch. You are welcome to enjoy Squirrel Square our deisgnated Early years area, which has mud kitchen, mini climbing wall, willow tunnel and equipment for imaginative free play.
